through season 6 I started feeling kind of sorry for Lucas Yes, the character was just a vehicle for whatever TPTB were trying to do, and rather a pathetic one at that. Had they chosen to have Cuddy date someone like Nolan or even Tritter (I've wanted to write a longer fic which ends in a Cuddy/Tritter pairing, but somehow other things always got in the way), House would have had a serious rival and the outcome would have been open, but pairing Cuddy up with someone who is House-lite was basically a lame plot device. It was clear he couldn't last.
