Glass Castle had a huge impact on me. I loved that so much of the story was told without blame. I thought Walls tried to do justice to what was a very complicated family.

Fanfiction has definitely changed my tolerance for books. I used to rarely if ever set them aside unfinished, now I have no problem doing so.

I don't typically read modern mainstream stuff; I've been disappointed too often. Have you tried any CJ Cherryh or Connie Willis? Octavia Butler wasn't prolific and I think she passed away, but I've only just stumbled into her work and liked it very much.
