It's very different from S7, I think if you're looking for a canon parallel, you're better off looking at how House behaves with Nora in S6 (The Down Low?) or possibly with Stacy in Hunting, when he does the dishes for her. Or even in S3 when he's looking at apartments with Bonnie, sounding her on Wilson. This isn't House trying to ensure that his 'drug' supply doesn't run dry (that's my personal take on his interactions with Cuddy in S7), this is 'House with an agenda', whatever that might be. (The Nora parallel works best, I think.)
