My honest opinion on that? I think he'd be miserable. He'd try to find rational explanations for what's going on, because if there's one thing he hates, it's having to adapt his view of the world. That would keep him so busy (because there'd always be more to explain every time he found a 'natural' explanation for something), that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on the cases as such. It would be like those episodes where he's distracted by something and totally neglects his patients. Besides, there'd be nothing he could do about magical maladies, so he'd feel inferior and start doubting his gift.
