I absolutely understand why you want to keep within the confines of the play - my RL beta and I had a big discussion about this recently when the Cuddy character in "A Single Man" wouldn't behave. I was thinking that you could still use House's musings to recap the past few days' events and explain his pessimism, just in a compressed format.
