I think it would be really hard to discern the difference between saving someone for themself and saving them for you if that person was a 'loved one'. If it's a total stranger and you rush into a burning building to save them then that is most likely a completely unselfish act. But in the case of Stacy for example, her thoughts might well have been that she didn't want to lose House - she loves him and wants him around. So, she doesn't want House to die. And the same in canon when Wilson refuses treatment, House wants him to stay around because he loves him and he doesn't want to lose him. I honestly don't know how wanting to save a loved one only for themself would work in anyone's head.
