who can't understand why anyone would actually believe the tenets of the religion that they are affiliated to Actually, I'm usually upset when people who claim that (1) they're part of a religion and (2) hence they're better/more moral than others, do not in fact believe the tenets of said religion. Example: Italy has 90% Catholics, Catholicism forbids contraception, Italy's birth rate is below to 2 children/woman: you do the maths. Once I finally discovered what exactly the tenets of my faith were, I quit because I couldn't believe them (and was also annoyed at having been kept willfully in the dark).
normal agnostic mainstream vs. very rigorous views I think the views of the Catholic Church are rigorous, except no one takes them seriously (agnostic mainstream). A possible exception would be my parents - the parish priest had to persuade them that using contraception (as the doctors insisted they should do) was allowed after my mother almost died of the consequences of yet another spontaneous miscarriage. (The priest lied).
