Hearing such outlandish incidents as the knife-in-socket being treated like oh so humorous things that guy House got up to, must be very shocking to Pete.
House does a lot of things that he'd never accept in his patients (or in others, as Cameron points out in the previous chapters). Here he gets to judge himself from an outside perspective and perhaps get a hint of what he put others through when he did those things.

Hmm, interesting perspective of cause and effect. It never occurred to me to see it that way. My mother was hit by a car once at a pedestrian cross-over. She had concussion and couldn't remember a thing. The driver of the car said she 'threw herself onto the slow-moving car' ...

as long as it doesn't involve anyway suddenly getting cancer :)
I've given Cuddy cancer twice already in my fics; I think I'll be able to refrain this time. And Wilson's been whumped enough by the bottle, I'd say. Hmm, Rachel crippled, Cuddy with severe PTSD, Wilson depressive and an alcoholic, House with amnesia and short one leg: can't really say I've been kinder than Shore, which was what I was going to say at first.
