It's because his left hand is dominant, and being weakened by his depressions (they can be physically exhausting) he pays attention to little details that help him save his strength.

As for the job in research, there's the matter of keeping him away from his old environment. Furthermore, direct patient contact encourages Wilson to put other people's needs before his own. And finally, he may need some time before he's capable of working a full load. That's more likely to work in research than as head of department in a hospital.

thank you for coming up with some sort of believable explanation for what the hell was happening during the House/Cuddy thing. Even if it's only the truth as Cuddy sees it now it's food for thought.
Even if it's only her truth it has to be considered, because that's how the relationship played out for her. It played out differently for House, and his opinions, if he still had any, would need to be considered too. The one person whose view of the relationship is irrelevant is Wilson ...
