Ummm, I don't really know. I was only adding my snippet of knowledge to Brighid's theory, to which I don't subscribe entirely. I only know that I preferred Thunder Roadtrip enormously to what we got in 'Now What?'. It had a relaxed, fun and appreciative Cuddy in it, one who shared common interests with House, appreciated his attempts to keep her amused and didn't bitch when things went wrong - very badly wrong at times! (They got bust for b&e, kicked out of a Bruce Springsteen concert and Cuddy got stoned. At the end of that day she was happy. Does that sound like the Cuddy of 'Unwritten' to you?) Since that episode never got aired despite several scenes being shot, one can only assume that someone asked for a re-write that got rid of most of Cuddy's positive attributes and substituted irritating ones instead (geting rid of the vicodin behind House's back, demanding a declaration of love, chickening out when Wilson arrives.) That line was continued in 'Unwritten' and 'Massage Therapy', and then taken to new excesses in 'Office Politics'. I don't know the reason behind this revisionist writing of Cuddy's character, I only know that there was a conscious decision to make her a lot more unpleasant than Doris Egan had originally intended to write her, and there must be a reason for that.
